The Luminys DW401-CW01 combines a 4MP video doorbell, CW01 plug-in wireless chime, intelligent human and vehicle motion detection, two-way audio, IR night illumination and local microSD storage in one installer-ready package.

The doorbell connects to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6, supports the LumiViewer mobile app and can be added to a compatible Luminys NVR. ONVIF Profiles S, G and T are also supported for projects requiring standards-based video interoperability.

Important: What “2-Wire” Means

The DW401 is hardwired for power, but its network connection is wireless. The installation uses the doorbell's power terminals while video and network communication are handled over dual-band Wi-Fi.

Luminys specifies a binding-post power supply of 10–24 VDC or 14–24 VAC at 1.0 A. A 5 VDC USB power input is also listed by the manufacturer. When replacing an existing doorbell, verify the available transformer or power supply before installation.

Intelligent Detection for the Front Door

Luminys Intelligent Motion Detection (iMD) is designed to distinguish people and vehicles from unrelated movement in the monitored area. This provides more useful event detection than basic pixel-change motion and can help reduce alerts caused by objects, animals or changing lighting conditions.

The doorbell also supports up to three custom detection shapes, allowing targeted event areas to be defined around the entrance, walkway, driveway or other relevant portion of the scene.

4MP Video with Wide Entrance Coverage

A 1/3-inch CMOS sensor and fixed 2.3 mm lens provide up to 4MP / 2560 × 1440 video at 15 fps. The wide 125.3° horizontal field of view is suited to entrance monitoring where coverage of both the visitor and the surrounding approach area matters.

For low-light conditions, two integrated IR LEDs provide illumination up to 10.1 m / 33 ft. The camera also supports automatic day/night switching, digital wide dynamic range and 3D noise reduction.

Recording and Luminys NVR Integration

A 32 GB microSD card is included and pre-installed, allowing local storage without requiring an additional memory card at commissioning. The doorbell supports microSD capacities up to 256 GB.

For recorder-based projects, Luminys provides an official procedure for registering the video doorbell with a Luminys NVR. The DW401 also supports H.265 and H.264 compression and ONVIF Profiles S, G and T.

Third-party recorder interoperability can vary by platform and feature set. Verify the required recording, event and audio functions before finalizing a mixed-manufacturer system.

LumiViewer Mobile Setup

Initial commissioning is performed through the LumiViewer mobile app. The installer scans or manually enters the device serial number, provisions the doorbell onto Wi-Fi and assigns the device to the user account.

The included CW01 chime is then added through LumiViewer and linked to the appropriate doorbell.

Included CW01 Wireless Chime

The kit includes the compatible CW01 plug-in wireless chime. The chime supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and provides eight selectable ringtone options.

Compatibility warning: The DW401 is designed for use with the Luminys CW01 chime. Third-party chimes are not supported. Do not assume an existing mechanical or electronic doorbell chime can remain in the circuit.

Installation and Compatibility Notes

Verify doorbell power before ordering. An existing two-wire run may be reusable, but the available transformer or DC supply must meet Luminys' published requirements.

Do not plan around an existing third-party chime. The DW401 is compatible with the included CW01 Luminys chime; third-party chimes are not supported.

Check environmental limits for exposed Canadian installations. The doorbell is IP65 rated and specified for operation down to -25°C. For sites expected to operate below the published temperature range, confirm project suitability before specifying the unit.

Verify third-party recorder requirements. ONVIF support does not guarantee that every analytics, audio or notification feature will behave identically on every third-party VMS or NVR.
